World Class Gymnastics Returns to Glasgow!

Jennifer Pinches |

This weekend some of the best gymnasts in the world will compete in the UK once again, at the Emirates arena in Glasgow. The competition will be the 2nd of 3 events in the 2016 World Cup series, which began last weekend with the American Cup (where Amy Tinkler came 4th!) and will end next weekend with the Stuttgart Cup.

World Cup series competitions have been held in Glasgow many times before; I was lucky enough to be able to participate in 2011 series where I won a bronze medal on Floor. Following another notable major gymnastics event held in the UK in 2012 (ahem Olympics ahem), the World cup series returned to Glasgow the following December, and then again in Dec 2013 and Dec 2014.

Then, just last year, the World Championships and Olympic qualifiers were held in Glasgow from 23 October- 1 Nov 2015 and it became clear that the UK, especially Glasgow, has become a favourite location for major gymnastics events. This is great news for all British gymnastics fans and I hope this trend continues!
